we had snow today [Friday]. Earliest ever in the Houston area in
recorded history. Weather predictions say no accumulation by tomorrow
morning but there is a freeze warning until 09:00 AM. Bridges and other
"localized" areas may have frozen surfaces, although ground temperature is
generally above freezing and crews have de-icing key areas.

The Parks people say the park will be open unless "really extreme weather",
which looks unlikely at this time. The Community Center is intending to be
open, if the park is open. The food is already bought, so the Houston Happy
Hikers will be there. The "Happy Birthday" cake arrives about 10:00 AM.
Extra anniversary t-shirts have been picked up.

So, all is still a go. Walkers should come bundled up. The Start/Finish at
the Community Center will be warm. Even if you don't want to walk, please
come for the lunch at 11:30. The officers and helpers can eat only so much
turkey, ham, and brisket and cake!!!!
